Barys defeat Avangard at G-Drive Arena for the first time

In their final game of 2025, Barys faced Avangard on the road in Omsk.

The hosts created the most dangerous chance in the first half of the opening period, as Semyon Chistyakov rang a shot off the left post of Nikita Boyarkin’s net. Barys responded with a successful counterattack, finished by Vsevolod Logvin, who opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Early in the second period, Alikhan Omirbekov and Alikhan Asetov applied pressure in the offensive zone, and No. 96 netted Astana’s first shorthanded goal of the season. Avangard pulled one back through Vasily Ponomaryov, who beat Boyarkin from close range with a quick shot, but before the second intermission the visitors restored their two-goal cushion. Once again, it was Kirill Panyukov who capitalized on a great feed from Asetov.

Marcel Ibragimov cut the deficit in the middle of the third period, but Mikhail Kravets’ team stayed composed. In the final minute, Mason Morelli sealed the win by scoring into the empty net. Nikita Boyarkin stopped 36 shots, earned his first win of the season, and also picked up an assist. On January 6, Barys will continue their road trip in Nizhny Novgorod against Torpedo.
