Barys Advance to the Jastar Ligasy Final

Astana’s Barys moved into the Jastar Ligasy final after overcoming the second playoff round in the shortest possible way.

In the third semifinal game in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Barys came back twice after trailing by two goals but managed to reduce the deficit each time. With seven minutes remaining before the final siren, Leonid Shakenov scored the decisive goal to give the visitors their third win of the series. Svyatoslav Kharchenko also scored twice in the game.

The fourth game also saw the main events unfold early. Accurate shots by Amirkhan Shegebaev and Leonid Shakenov gave the Astana side control of the game. Aldiyar Kabduali sealed the final score with an empty-net goal with 72 seconds remaining. Barys goaltender Leonid Kravtsov supported his team with 26 saves.

Thus, Barys became the second team to reach the Jastar Ligasy final this season. The Astana club will face Karmet in the battle for the gold medals.
