In his first season in the Kontinental Hockey League, Massie became one of the key players for Barys. In 17 games, the defenseman recorded 4 (1+3) points and averaged over 20 minutes of ice time per game. He also led the team in blocked shots with 42.
Leonid Metalnikov, General Director of Barys:
“There was strong interest in Jake from other clubs, but our current defenseman chose to remain in Astana and continue developing here. Jake is a very hard-working player and a true team-first professional who brings value both on and off the ice. We are happy to continue our cooperation with Samat Daniyar, who became an important mentor for Jake in Barys.”
