Vecchione’s Hat-Trick Leads Barys to Victory Over Dragons

Barys continued its road trip in Shanghai, where they played a relocated game against the Dragons.

Chinese fans saw seven goals already in the opening period. Riley Sutter opened the scoring after converting a breakaway against Nikita Boyarkin. Barys quickly responded, with captain Kirill Savitskiy finishing a play after strong work in the offensive zone by Kirill Lyapunov. Less than a minute later, Riley Walsh scored on the power play. Adam Clendening then restored parity with a shot from the blue line. Barys answered with a quick double, as Michael Vecchione and Mason Morelli both found the net. With 16 seconds left in the period, Borna Rendulic scored on a 5-on-3 power play.

In the second period, Vecchione scored his second goal with a shot from behind the net that went in after several deflections. Shortly after, Semyon Simonov beat Dmitry Shikin for the sixth time, while Vladimir Kuznetsov scored the fourth goal against Boyarkin for the Dragons.

In the final period, Vsevolod Logvin and Vecchione—who completed his hat-trick—each added another goal, much to the disappointment of the home crowd.

On March 10, Mikhail Kravets’ team will face Amur in Khabarovsk.
