KHL. Before the match Avangard - Barys

Barys continues its four-game road series with Avangard.

The Omsk team, which recently returned to its hometown, has had a rough start to the current season. Unstable results led to a change of Head Coach, after which Avangard began to climb out of the crisis. Last week, Mikhail Kravets's team beat Severstal 4-3 at home. Newcomer Ziyat Paigin opened the scoring for the Omsk team, and Sergey Tolchinsky had one shot on goal. Reid Boucher, the hero of the game and the team's top goal getter, scored a double, reaching the mark of ten goals for the season (16 points in total). After the match, the acting Head Coach noted that the team was nearly let down by unjustified, "cheap" penalties.

Avangard has scored 18 points in 21 meetings, allowing it to take only tenth place in the East. Defender Christian Yarosh and forward Nail Yakupov were on the injured list as of the evening of October 24.

Barys began its road trip series with a loss to Neftekhimik (2-4), and the Astana team lost to Nizhnekamsk for the second game of the season. Egor Petukhov and Anthony Louis added to their sniper accounts. Goalkeeper Julius Hudacek saved 30 shots on goal and had an assist. Andrei Skabelka said at a press conference that his team stopped doing the work that helped them win.

Twenty-three points after 22 games allow the Kazakhstani team to feel confident in the playoff zone. Barys is currently sixth (fifth) in its conference. Linden Wei was once again the sole scorer for his team, with 16 (10+6 points) to his credit. The injured are still on the sidelines, as are forwards Ansar Shaikhmeddenov, Michael Chaput and Nikita Mihailis. Kirill Savitsky's participation in the upcoming game is questionable, he was injured in Nizhnekamsk.

This season, Barys and Avangard have already had two head-to-head games in the capital of Kazakhstan. The home team won the first game, 5-3, while the Russian team was stronger in the second, 5-2.
