Barys will close its first home series of the season with a match against Dinamo Minsk.
Dmitry Kvartalnov's team started the championship with two wins in three matches. On Wednesday Dinamo defeated Vityaz on the road (5:1). Alexander Volkov, Vitaly Pinchuk (the team's top scorer, 3+0), Roman Gorbunov, Dillon Dubé, and Ilya Usov added to their goal tallies. Andrey Kareyev recorded 21 saves. The Minsk coach noted that their success in this game came from a strong start, as the team built a decisive lead by the 15th minute.
Dinamo currently has four points. Defenders Xavier Ouellet and Jordan Gross (both +4) are among the top 8 most valuable players in the league.
Barys, on the other hand, lost their last home game to Amur (1:5). Former Barys player Kirill Panyukov scored for Amur. Nikita Boyarkin made his first appearance of the season in goal, making 23 saves. Tamirlan Gaitamirov registered his first assist of the current championship. Oleg Boyko made his KHL debut, while Ansar Shaikhmeddenov reached the milestone of 100 games. Coach David Nemirovsky pointed out that his players often strayed from the game plan, leading to effective counterattacks by their opponents.
Currently, Barys has one point. The team's top scorer is defenseman Will Butcher (0+2). Nathan Beaulieu was added to the injury list after getting hurt during the game against Amur. Meanwhile, Vladislav Kodola has been cleared to play and may debut for his new team today. On Wednesday, American forward Chase DeLeo arrived at the team’s camp, and it is highly likely he will take to the ice in the evening's match.
The Barys vs. Dinamo Minsk match will begin at 19:00 Astana time.
A live broadcast is scheduled on the KHL Prime channel.
