Barys will wrap up its October match schedule with a home game against Kunlun. The Beijing team arrives in Kazakhstan's capital after five consecutive home losses. In their last game, the "Dragons" were narrowly defeated by CSKA in overtime (3–4), marking the only game of their recent home series where they scored points. The goals against CSKA were scored by Rourke Chartier, Adam Clendening, and Jaden Halbgewachs. Goaltender Konstantin Volkov made 21 saves. Coach Mikhail Kravets noted that his team played with solid structure and, despite trailing 1–3, kept pressing forward.
Kunlun has earned 14 points in 20 games. Tomas Jurco is the team's top scorer with 13 points (6+7), while defenseman Ryan Merkley is on the injured list.
Last week, Barys achieved back-to-back wins for the first time this season. In their last game, they beat Sibir in Novosibirsk (3–1). Anton Burdasov and Ivan Nikolishin each tallied 2 points (1+1) in the game, with Nikolishin recording his first points with the Kazakh team. Adil Beketayev also scored a goal. Goalie Nikita Boyarkin made 28 saves. Coach Galym Mambetaliyev commented that the victory was hard-fought.
