Before the Barys vs. Avangard Game

In their final home game of November, Barys will face one of the Eastern Conference leaders, Avangard. Both teams come into this matchup riding three-game winning streaks.

In their last outing, Omsk picked up a 3–0 road win over Lada. Andrew Poturalski, Mikhail Kotlyarevsky, and Dmitry Rashevsky found the back of the net, while Andrey Mishurov turned aside all 23 shots he faced. Guy Boucher emphasized how important the early goal was and noted that his team managed to stay out of the box thanks to their strong movement.

Through 27 games, the Hawks have earned 37 points. Konstantin Okulov (11+18) is among the league’s top scorers and playmakers. Damir Sharipzyanov (8+17) leads all defensemen in points this season. Recently, Avangard parted ways with forward Ansel Galimov.

On Friday, Barys beat a key playoff rival, Salavat Yulaev, 2–1 in Astana. Jake Massie and Alihan Asetov—who wore the captain’s “C” with Kirill Savitsky out injured—scored the goals. Tamirlan Gaitamirov and Kirill Panyukov each recorded their first assists of the season. Mason Morelli reached the 10-assist mark, while Ansar Shaikhmeddenov hit 10 points (5+5). Adam Scheel stopped 22 shots for the shutout. Head coach Mikhail Kravets said his team played with a lot of heart but admitted that unnecessary penalties disrupted their rhythm.

Barys have collected 27 points through 29 games. Defenseman Riley Walsh (7+14) remains the team’s top scorer at the moment.

The season series between Barys and Avangard is currently tied. Each team has won its home game—6–2 for Astana and 4–3 for Omsk.
