Before Barys vs. Traktor game

Barys opens a four-match home series with a meeting with Traktor.

Chelyabinsk team after the resignation of Anvar Gatiyatulin won on the road against Avangard (4:1). Rookie Charles Robinson, Maxim Shabanov, Sergei Kalinin and Egor Popov got on the scoresheet. Goalie Sergei Mylnikov deflected 22 shots. Traktor's acting head coach Alexei Zavarukhin said that all four units played good hockey.

In 16 games, Traktor has scored 18 points. Semyon Der-Arguchintsev (6+2) and Anton Burdasov (5+3) are the Chelyabinsk team's most productive players. The former is on the injured list along with three other forwards: Vladimir Zharkov, Vitaly Kravtsov and Andrei Chibisov.

Barys lost on the road to Vityaz on Friday (2:3 OT), suffering its fifth straight defeat. Pontus Oberg scored his ninth goal of the season and Kirill Savitsky scored once more. Andrei Shutov made 32 saves. After this meeting Andrei Skabelka resigned as head coach of Astana. Kazakhstani specialist Galym Mambetaliev was appointed as acting coach.

At the end of 15 games, the Kazakhstan team has 11 points in its bank. Riley Barber (6+12) is third on the list of the KHL's top scorers. David Sklenicka (1+13) is the league's most productive defenceman. Alex Grant and Dmitry Gurkov are in the infirmary.
