Barys kicks off its road trip with a matchup against the reigning Gagarin Cup champion, Metallurg.

Magnitogorsk recently secured a 4-1 home victory over Severstal on Monday, officially clinching a playoff spot. Artem Minulin, Makar Khabarov, Troy Josephs, and Luke Johnson each found the back of the net, while Ilya Nabokov stopped 15 of 16 shots on goal. Head coach Andrey Razin called it one of his team’s most confident wins of the season.

Metallurg has earned 74 points in 58 games. Their top scorer, defenseman Robin Press (3+30), ranks among the league’s top six highest-scoring defensemen. Currently, the team is missing defenseman Vladislav Yeryomenko and forward Danila Yurov due to injuries.

Barys, meanwhile, suffered a 2-4 home defeat against Admiral in the previous round. Roman Starchenko and Dinmukhamed Kayyrzhan scored for the team, while Andrey Shutov made 25 saves. Batyrlan Muratov and Alikhan Omirbekov both played their 100th KHL games. Head coach Galym Mambetaliev noted that his team struggles with consistency.

After 58 games, Barys remains at 29 points. Kirill Savitsky has been placed on the injured list and will miss this road trip.
