Barys’ Winning Streak Comes to an End

Barys continued their October home stand with a game against Sibir. Vsevolod Logvin missed the game for medical reasons. Alikhan Omirbekov took his place on the first line, while Dinmukhamed KAIYRZHAN joined the third line. Hunter Shepard started in goal.

The opening stages resembled Barys’ previous game against Avangard. The visitors opened the scoring on the power play through Stepan Nikulin. Barys responded fairly quickly, with Mason Morelli adding to his goal tally for the second line. Two minutes before the first intermission, Barys captain Kirill Savitsky scored his first goal of the season, joining the attack as the second wave.

Early in the second period, another puck found its way into Mikhail Berdin’s net, but the officials overturned the goal following a challenge by Sibir’s coaching staff for goaltender interference.

In the third period, the Novosibirsk side turned the game around. Taylor Beck converted a power play, and Pavel Tyutnev capitalized on a fortunate rebound off the goaltender to end Barys’ winning streak at three games. Shepard made 27 saves.

On October 14, Mikhail Kravets’ team will host Avtomobilist.
