In their third game at the Division IA World Championship, Team Kazakhstan faced tournament hosts Poland.
The match began with a rather unusual goal by the Polish side. After a shot from Patryk Wronka, the puck bounced off the end boards, landed on top of the net, and then ricocheted off Andrey Shutov into the goal. Kazakhstan quickly regained control of the game, but Tomasz Fucik kept his team ahead through two periods. The best chance came from Batyrlan Muratov, who hit the crossbar.
Muratov eventually tied the game on the 49th minute. The decisive moment came late in the third period when Vsevolod Logvin found Semyon Simonov in front of the net with a brilliant pass from behind the goal, and the forward made no mistake. Shortly after, Kirill Savitskiy scored into the empty net. Patryk Krężołek added one more for Poland in the final seconds, but it did not affect the outcome.
After three games, Kazakhstan has collected 9 points and remains on top of the standings. On May 7, Talgat Zhailauov’s team will face Ukraine. The game starts at 19:00.
