The visitors opened the scoring when Andrei Kurakov found the back of the net with a precise shot. Arthur Gross restored parity with a shot in front of goaltender Vladimir Istomin’s net.

In the second period, Kirill Basov put Arlan back in front. Nomad responded quickly, with Adil Beisembayev equalising with a shot from the blue line.

The third period was the most intense of the game. Zakhar Zakharov and Ilya Shaporov gave Arlan a two-goal advantage. With five minutes remaining, Ruslan Tusupbekov pulled one back for Nomad, but the Astana team could not find an equaliser.

Nomad will play their third game of the tournament against the team from Almaty on 18 August.
