Omsk, playing a pair of matches, yesterday won a willful victory over "Amur" (2:1). Avangard leaders Vladimir Tkachyov and Reid Boucher (both 1+1) once again made their mark. The former overtook Nikolay Goldobin and moved into the lead in the list of top scorers in the championship (15+38), the latter scored his 28th puck of the season and leads the top sniper race by a small margin. Ilya Proskuryakov deflected 27 shots on goal.
Mikhail Kravets' wards have earned 53 points in 37 games, which puts them in second place in the East. Forward Ilya Reingardt is on the injured list.
Barys came to Omsk with three wins in the last four games. On Sunday, the Astana team pulled out a 3-2 overtime win over Severstal on the road. Evgeni Rymarev, who scored his first goal after returning to the KHL, was the author of the decisive shot. Anthony Camara and Mikhail Rakhmanov also scored once each (in the shorthanded position). Kazakhstan's top scorer Pontus Åberg (24 points) reached the 10 assists mark. Mikhail Rakhmanov and Arkadiy Shestakov extended their scoring streaks to five games. Andrei Shutov made 37 saves.
Barys has 31 points after 38 games. Forward Alikhan Asetov will miss the meeting for medical reasons.
In the first face-to-face game of the regular season, which also took place in Omsk, Avangard confidently outplayed Barys 4-1.
