Dynamo Moscow – Barys: Game Preview

The Blue and Whites did not finish their Far East road trip on a positive note, suffering a 0:4 shutout defeat to Amur. Three of Dynamo’s goals were conceded while shorthanded. Maxim Motorygin made 32 saves, but it was not enough to help his team earn any points. Leonid Tambiev said that the outcome of the game was decided by the performance of the special teams.

Dynamo have collected eight points in seven games and currently sit sixth in the Western Conference. The team’s leading scorer is Dylan Sikura (1+5). Forward Nikita Tertyshny is currently on the injured list.

Barys closed out last week with a 5:0 shutout victory in Yaroslavl, ending Lokomotiv’s six-game winning streak. Justin Bailey was the first player on the team to reach 10 points (6+4) and remains among the league’s top three scorers. Jake Massie, Logan Day, Ansar Shaikhmeddenov and Semyon Simonov scored one goal each. Garrett Pilon recorded two assists. Arkady Shestakov, playing his first game since returning to Astana, also picked up an assist. Madi Dikhanbek recorded the first point of his KHL career with an assist. Andrei Shutov, making his first start, stopped all 36 shots on goal to record his first shutout of the season. Yesterday, the Kazakh goaltender was named the league’s best player at his position for the second week of the championship. Mikhail Kravets said his players followed the game plan and gave 200% to secure the victory.

Barys have earned eight points in six games. That is currently fifth in the Eastern Conference standings ahead of the next game day.
