Roman Starchenko: We played a lot on offense

Forward Roman Starchenko, recognized by KHL as the first star of the Barys and Sibir meeting, gave his comments after the match.

- We had a good, dynamic match. We played a lot on offense. Sibir has a tight-checking defense, but at the same time we created a number of scoring chances. However its implementation is still weak.

- Match with CSKA turned out to be very emotional and took a lot of energy. Did you have time to recover after that match?

- We had time to recover, we had training sessions as well. In the working mode, we were preparing for the game with Sibir.

- Actually, Barys scores very little in the last all-time matches with Sibir. Is it because of the opponent's defense, or is there a problem with our implementation?

- I think it's both. Sibir always plays stingy in defense. It’s kind of a working team. If they are given a chance to impose their style of game, it will be difficult to play against them in the future. Today we managed to score a couple of goals.

- The match was very important from a tournament point of view. Did you keep in mind that we are currently playing with a direct competitor?

- Yes, we all understand that we are going next to each other in the standings. Each team needs points. We can even say that there was a game for four points. It's good that we made two points, although we gave them one as well.

- At the beginning of the season, Barys did not capitalize on power play well. But in recent meetings, this component has started to work better. What did you change?

- We have great special teams as everyone can score and give a good pass. Therefore, we try to use various coaching schemes. We try to use the strengths of each player.
