Barys coaching staff attracts three athletes to the team's junior camp who have not yet had experience of playing at the senior level. These three have achieved good results at the junior level, and each of them, under favorable conditions, could make their debut in full side this year. In this regard, Barys media office offers you a series of publications on potential newcomers.
Stanislav Aleksandrov is one of the most interesting forwards, born in 2002. Last season, Stas was one of the leaders of Snejnye Barsy's offense, scoring 27 points in his first full season in JHL. He also helped Barys junior team win gold medals in Zhastar Kazakhstan League.
The young forward told how different the leagues in which he plays are, as well as how he memorised his first world junior championship.
- Stas, let's start with a standard question. How did you find yourself in hockey?
- My dad has a friend; his son was playing in the SHL at the time. He advised me to try hockey. I don't remember much of that time. I only remember that I started skating with the guys born in 1999.
- You have played for Snejnye Barsy in the JHL for the past two seasons. Is it difficult to fight against older guys?
- The first season was a bit difficult. Still, the age difference affects this level. It was easier now, because a lot of the teams had guys of my age or a year older. But if you want to develop, you have to play against strong opponents. So it's all right.
- How different are the JHL, Zhastar KYL and the YHL championship?
- Of course, the JHL has completely different speeds and a different style of play. And the teams are stronger, the players are already more skilled. But I'm happy to play at any level. The more practice, the better.
- Last season you got more playing time in the JHL. Are you ready for such a burden?
- Yes, I feel quite good already. Coaches also began to trust me more. With that comes confidence. I am more successful in the game.
- At the end of the season, you became the second kicker of your team, scoring 17 goals. However, you only have 10 passes on your account. Is it better to score than to give?
- No, I wouldn't say that. These are from my passes that my teammates can't score, that's the reason (laughing). In general, thanks to them, they create good moments for me. Hockey is a team game, where everyone is interconnected.
- Since last season, Barys has built a full-fledged vertical. And young guys are already getting practice in senior teams. Do you think this is an additional incentive for growth?
- Of course, everyone wants to play at a high level. I think everyone wants to get into the masters team and get a foothold there. But for this, first of all, you need to prove yourself at the youth level. A simple example: Artyom Korolyov, Maksim Musorov, and Dias Guseynov. They were good at it, and the coaches of the senior teams noticed them.
- Junior World Cup in Czech Republic. You are two years younger than your opponents, but you didn't just serve a number, you also scored two goals. What did you remember most about that tournament?
- Of course, I remember that match with Germany and those two goals. The atmosphere at the World Cup was completely different, and the level of teams is very different from the JHL. But I made a conclusion for myself – the age of the opponent doesn't matter.
- You were included in the list of players who had to pass Barys youth camp this off-season. Was it a surprise to you?
- Yes, to be honest, it was unexpected. I set myself up for these training camps and wanted to declare myself. When you are given such a chance, you should use it, try to get a foothold and look as good as the masters.
- What are you doing now under the conditions of quarantine?
- I sleep (laughing). Sometimes we meet with friends and play football. I train on my own so that I didn't train off and get ready for the start of the season in good condition. The coaching staff gave us an exercise program, so everyone is engaged.
- Finally, could you advise our fans a couple of movies that can fill their free time?
- Three movies came to mind at once: "The Wolf of Wall Street", "We Are Your Friends" and "Only girls in sports".
