In the final game of their first home series of the season, Barys faced Amur. The Astana coaching staff made a slight change to the fourth line, bringing Beybarys Orazov into the lineup and handing a KHL debut to Abzal Alibek.
The game began with a series of penalties for both teams. Barys were unable to capitalize on their power-play opportunities, while Amur scored on their first man-advantage chance, with Yaroslav Likhachyov opening the scoring. The Khabarovsk side doubled their lead midway through the game as Artem Shvaryov found the back of the net. The hosts responded with a sharp-angle shot from Garrett Pilon.
In the final period, Barys pinned their opponents in their own zone, but could not beat Maxim Dorozhko again. With six seconds remaining on the clock, Kirill Petkov scored into an empty net to seal the final score.
As a result, Barys suffered their first defeat of the new season. On September 16, Mikhail Kravets’ team will face Lada in Tolyatti.
