The 2026 Kazakhstan Youth Cup got underway in Pavlodar, with defending champions Barys making a winning start to the tournament. The capital club defeated Gornyak 5–2.
Roman Lazarenko, Ardaylet Yerzhanuly, Amir Popchenkov and Nurali Aitmagambetov found the scoresheet for Barys, with Aitmagambetov scoring twice. Goaltender Arseniy Kuchkovsky made 17 saves.
Rinat Omarbekov’s team will face Sunkar from Uralsk in their next game. The game will start at 15:00 on 27 August.
