Barys Extends Losing Streak

In their first game of the New Year, Barys faced Lada in Astana. Ivan Nikolishin, who had missed the game against Salavat, returned to the lineup, with Nikita Boyarkin starting in goal.

The opening period was successful for the visitors. Within a span of 28 seconds, Danil Yurtaykin and Egor Chernikov capitalized on defensive errors, each scoring and disappointing the home crowd. A minute before the break, Denis Barantsev converted Lada's first power-play opportunity. Barys managed to create two solid counterattacks, led by Anton Burdasov and Alihan Omirbekov, but the visitors' defense held strong, neutralizing the threats.

The second period saw Barys dominating the play, but they struggled to get the puck past Alexander Trushkov. Lada, on the other hand, made the most of a rare opportunity, with Alexander Volkov extending the lead before the second intermission. Early in the final period, Chernikov scored again, securing his brace and the final goal of the game.

On January 7, Galym Mambetaliev's team will host Avtomobilist on home ice.
