In their first October match, Barys faced Spartak in Moscow. Newcomers Stanislav Bocharov, Nikita Setdikov, and Ilya Khokhlov made their debut for the Astana team, while Nathan Beaulieu returned from injury.
The game started with two consecutive penalties against Barys. Although Spartak couldn't capitalize on their 5-on-3 advantage, Adam Ruzicka opened the scoring after Barys returned to full strength.
The second period was more favorable for Barys, despite a few penalties. The Astana team created several great chances, with the puck twice dancing along the goal line, and once hitting the crossbar. However, Spartak was more clinical in taking advantage of their opportunities. Yegor Chezhganov and Andrei Mironov added to the score. Late in the period, Daniil Apalkov finally ended Barys' goal drought with his first goal of the season.
Midway through the third period, Apalkov turned playmaker, setting up Anton Burdasov, who fired a shot into the top corner. However, Barys couldn’t find the equalizer, and Ivan Morozov sealed the win with an empty-net goal.
On October 5, Vyacheslav Butsaev’s team will play against Avangard in Omsk.
