Barys Missed the Chance to Return to the Top Eight

In the opening game of their road trip, Barys faced Lada. Head coach Mikhail Kravets kept the lineup unchanged following the home win over CSKA.

The opening period was controlled by the hosts, who created at least two quality scoring chances. Barys’ defense held firm, including during a four-minute penalty kill. In one episode, Colby Williams hit the post. In the second period, the Astana side took over the initiative and spent more time in possession. The best opportunity to open the scoring came when Emil Galimov fired a one-timer after a cross-ice pass from Alikhan Omirbekov, but he was unable to beat Alexander Trushkov.

Ultimately, the game was decided by a precise shot from Andrey Altibarmakyan early in the 54th minute. The final score was set by Artur Tyanulin, who hit the empty net. Adam Scheel finished the game with 27 saves.

On January 22, Mikhail Kravets’ team will face CSKA on the road in Moscow.
