In the third game of their February home series, Barys faced off against Metallurg. Due to delays in transporting luggage from China, not all players returning from the Kazakhstan national team were available for the match.
The opening period saw the visitors dominate play, but Barys held their ground and struck first. Mikhail Rakhmanov capitalized on a defensive mistake to put his team ahead. Metallurg responded in the 27th minute, with Alexey Makyukov scoring from the blue line. Before the second intermission, Andrey Kozlov gave the visitors the lead with a well-placed shot from the right faceoff circle. Early in the final period, Denis Zernov extended Metallurg’s advantage, securing the win for his team. No further goals were scored after that.
On February 20, Galym Mambetaliyev’s team will host Severstal on home ice.
