Barys Fall to SKA in Shootout

In their opening game at the Nikolai Puchkov Tournament in St. Petersburg, Barys faced SKA. Forward Justin Bailey made his debut for the Astana club, while Hunter Shepard started in goal.

Both teams played at a good pace during the opening period. Barys created several dangerous chances on the power play, while SKA responded with a shot off the post from Vasily Glotov. The opening goal came after one of the few mistakes by the Astana side in their own zone. Matvey Korotky took advantage of the opportunity to open the scoring in the 28th minute.

The third period was dominated by the visitors, who took full control of the game. Shortly before the final buzzer, Vsevolod Logvin managed to force the puck into the net to send the game to overtime. The five-minute extra period passed without a goal, and SKA proved more accurate in the shootout.

On 28 August, Mikhail Kravets’ team will face SKA-Varyag. The game will start at 16:00.
