Barys continued their road trip in Magnitogorsk, once again undergoing major lineup changes. Tamerlan Gaitamirov, Artyom Korolyov, Roman Starchenko, Emil Galimov, and the injured Michael Vecchione were all left out of the roster. Returning to action were team captain Kirill Savitsky and defenseman Jake Massie, while Kirill Nikitin made his first KHL appearance of the season. Maxim Mukhametov and Kirill Panyukov took the right-wing spots on the third and fourth lines.
It took the visitors just 17 seconds to open the scoring. On their very first shift in the offensive zone, the Thompson line executed perfectly, and Tyce Thompson buried the puck himself. Metallurg answered on the power play — Alexander Petunin redirected Robin Press’s shot, leaving Andrei Shutov no chance.
The second period proved decisive. Magnitogorsk generated three dangerous counterattacks that shifted the momentum for good. Roman Kantserov scored twice, while Dmitry Silantyev added another. In the third, Maxim Mukhametov capitalized on strong work by Kirill Savitsky to beat Ilya Nabokov for Barys’ second goal, but Valery Orekhov sealed the outcome shortly after.
On December 1, Mikhail Kravets’ team will continue their road trip in Novosibirsk against Sibir.
