Admiral vs Barys: Game Preview

Astana's eighth stop on its lengthy road trip will once again be in Vladivostok. Just over two weeks have passed since the first meeting between Admiral and Barys. On that occasion, the Sailors claimed a 5:4 overtime victory on home ice.

In their previous game, Oleg Bratash's team also won at home, shutting out SKA 4:0. One of the goals was credited to Kazakh goaltender Nikita Boyarkin, who was the last Admiral player to touch the puck during a failed SKA attack with an empty net. Boyarkin also made 39 saves. Egor Chezganov, Ivan Yanchenko and Daniil Usmanov also found the net. The Far Eastern team's head coach said his players had delivered a complete performance, with everyone handling their individual responsibilities well.

Admiral have collected 23 points from 22 games. Ivan Muranov (7+5) and Egor Chezganov (5+7) are the team's leading scorers. Mario Grman, Kirill Zhukov, Fyodor Kroshchinsky and Kyle Olson are listed as injured.

On Wednesday, Barys suffered a narrow 2:1 defeat to Traktor in Chelyabinsk. Mason Morelli scored the team's only goal. Alikhan Omirbekov made his 200th KHL appearance, while Andrei Shutov turned aside 36 shots on goal. Mikhail Kravets noted that his players were currently struggling with their energy and emotions, but the team still had opportunities to salvage the game late on.

The Kazakh team has 25 points after 22 games. Justin Bailey (12+11) remains the League's leading scorer. Ian McCoshen is approaching his 150th KHL appearance.

The Admiral vs Barys game is scheduled to start at 14:30 Kazakhstan time.

The game will be broadcast live on Qazsport.
