Barys Astana continues its road trip with a game in Vladivostok against Admiral Vladivostok.
In their previous match, Admiral lost a tight home game to Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk (3–4). The goals were scored by Yegor Chezganov, Nikita Yefremov and the team’s top scorer Libor Šulák (14 goals, 27 assists). Goaltender Adam Huska made 19 saves. Head coach Oleg Bratash noted that his team essentially “lost to itself” because of several costly mistakes.
After 63 games, Admiral has 46 points. The injured list includes defensemen Mario Grman and Semyon Ruchkin, as well as forwards Alexander Daryin, Vladislav Kara and Ivan Muranov.
Barys successfully continued its Far East trip by defeating Amur Khabarovsk 3–0. The main hero of that game was goaltender Nikita Boyarkin, who recorded his first shutout of the season with 34 saves. Michael Vecchione scored twice and became the team’s leading scorer (19+25). Alikhan Omirbekov (5+12) set a new personal KHL scoring record, and Tye Thompson reached 10 assists for the season. Head coach Mikhail Kravets emphasized that the victory was a true team effort.
After 64 games, Barys has 51 points. Forward Dinmukhamed Kaiyrzhan is preparing to play his 200th game in the KHL.
