Before the Match: Amur – Barys

Barys will play the fourth of their six March road games in Khabarovsk.

Amur, who are still fighting for a playoff spot, defeated Salavat Yulaev at home in the previous round (6:3). Goals for the Far Eastern team were scored by Oleg Lee, Grigory Kuzmin, Artyom Shvarev, Yaroslav Likhachyov, Alexander Galchenyuk, and Kirill Petkov. Maxim Dorozhko made 19 saves. Head coach Alexander Andriyevsky noted that the game was entertaining for fans, though such hockey does not bring much joy to coaches.

Amur have 57 points after 63 games. The team’s top scorer is Yaroslav Likhachyov (22+17). Defenseman Roman Abrosimov and forward Alex Broadhurst remain on the injured list.

Barys played in Shanghai on Saturday as part of the KHL World Games. In a high-scoring game, the Astana side defeated the Dragons 8:4. The standout performer was Michael Vecchione, who recorded a hat-trick and two assists, surpassing the 40-point mark this season (17+25). Mason Morelli was involved in four scoring plays for the visitors. Goals were also scored by Kirill Savitskiy, Riley Walsh, Semyon Simonov (20 points this season, 12+8), and Vsevolod Logvin. Dmitry Breus reached the 10-point mark (1+9) in a KHL season for the first time in his career. Nikita Boyarkin, playing his 100th game in the league, made 33 saves. Head coach Mikhail Kravets said his team delivered a solid performance, and the mistakes in defense were compensated by confident attacking play, particularly on the power play.

In 63 games, the Kazakh team has earned 49 points. Riley Walsh, with 15 goals, ranks among the top three goal-scoring defensemen of the current regular season. Alihan Asetov will miss today’s game against Amur due to a one-game suspension for his third fight of the season.
