Metallurg – Barys: Game Preview

In their previous game, Metallurg suffered a 2:3 home defeat to Spartak. Yegor Yakovlev and Vladimir Tkachyov scored for the Magnitogorsk side, while Nikita Mikhailis recorded two assists. Yegor Zavragin made 19 saves. Andrei Razin noted that the changes to the line combinations were made by the coaching staff and said his team played well.

Metallurg have collected seven points from five games, which currently puts them third in the Eastern Conference standings. The team’s leading scorer is Sergei Tolchinsky (1+3).

Barys continue to produce plenty of offense. On Tuesday, the Kazakhstani side shut out Lada 6:0 in Tolyatti, allowing their opponents just seven shots on goal. Hunter Shepard recorded his first KHL shutout. Justin Bailey, who scored twice, extended his point streak to four games. He is currently the second-highest scorer in the league (5+4). Jake Massie and Ian McCoshen also opened their scoring accounts for the season, while Semyon Simonov and Tice Thompson added to their goal totals. Batyrlan Muratov and Kirill Savitsky recorded their first points of the current championship. Mikhail Kravets noted the difficult start to the game, after which the contest was largely controlled by his team.

With six points from four games, Barys sit fourth in the Eastern Conference. Asanali Sarkenov has returned from the injured list, while Arkady Shestakov remains the only player sidelined.
