Snezhnye Barsy have appointed Ilgiz Nuriev as the club's new head coach.

During his playing career, Nuriev represented Kazakhmys Satpayev, Saryarka Karaganda, Arystan Temirtau, and Kulager Petropavlovsk. As a member of the Kazakhstan national team, the former forward won the 2017 Asian Winter Games.

In 2023, Nuriev guided Kulager's junior team to the Jastar Ligasy silver medals as head coach. Over the past two seasons, he has led Tayfun Primorsky Krai in the MHL, where his team won the Western Conference Silver Division and earned promotion to the Gold Division.

Nuriev has signed a two-year contract running through 31 May 2028. The updated coaching staff of Snezhnye Barsy, along with the team's preseason preparation plan, will be announced at a later date.

Leonid Metalnikov, General Manager of Barys:

"Ilgiz Ravilievich is a systematic and highly demanding coach who knows how to get the maximum out of his players, and his work with Tayfun is clear proof of that. He is also well acquainted with the specifics of our hockey, which is important because the primary goal of our junior team is to develop quality players for the Barys first team and the Kazakhstan national team."
